Tournament Information

Welcome to the Jayhawk Invitational Basketball Tournament!

Over the course of the past 12 years, the Jayhawk Invitational has grown into one of grassroot basketball's top events. Held in Lawrence each spring, the Jayhawk has become a must attend event for many of the nation's top teams and talent evaluators. Looking ahead to the spring of 2012, the Jayhawk will still be among the spring's premier events in an environment that is constantly changing.

Thanks to tremendous support and growth the Jayhawk has experienced over the years, the tournament will move to a new home in the Kansas City South Metro area in order to stay in line with some of the changes coming to grassroots events. The Jayhawk will still feature the same top notch teams, facilities and exposure. In addition to all of the great things teams have come to expect from the Jayhawk Invitational, the new location in suburban Kansas City gives much better access to the facilities, additional lodging, dining, entertainment and shopping opportunities that the city can provide.

The Jayhawk Invitational is proud to be partnered with the NCAA Division I Identification & Development Officiating Camp. Organized & run by Larry Lady, a former NAIA/NCAA Official & NAIA Hall of Famer, Lady is NAIA National Coordinator of Officials & Evalator of Officials for the Big 12 Conference. This years tournament will be “called” by college officials that are currently working DI or aspire to make it to the Division I level over the next few years.

NCAA Division I Conferences will be represented by evaluators / Coordinators such as Jim “Boomer” Baine, Sam Lickliter, Rick Boyages, Eddie Jackson & John Underwood, Big 12 Associate Commissioner. Conferences such as The Big 12, Big 10, Ohio Valley, Conference USA, Missouri Valley, Mid American, Summit & Southland will be represented.

The Jayhawk Invitational also offers great visibility to our sponsors via our website, jayhawkinvitational.com, as well as great tournament attendance and email flashes to teams, players, and scouting services.

Our Event is produced and run by The Morningstar Family Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 not for profit foundation that supports a multitude of charities throughout Kansas, the KC Metro area and the Midwest including the KC Pump N’ Run Basketball Club, Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Van Go Mobile Arts, Santa’s Helpers / The Salvation Army adopt-a-family Christmas program, The Humane Society, Operatioin Wildlife, Lawrence Children’s Choir and a host of others. The Foundation has no paid employees and virtually no overhead expenses and uses the Jayhawk Invitational as it’s primary fundraising event. Our volunteer staff has considerable marketing experience.

All sponsorship dollars are tax deductible to the extent that is allowed by law. (Please consult your accountant)

Our organization has the ability to customize sponsorships to fit the needs of our sponsors. Anything from signage, website and email exposure to handouts and product sampling at our venues, virtually anything can be customized to fit your needs.

The Jayhawk Invitational is attended by some of the most well known talent evaluators in the US, including scout.com, rivals.com, espn.com, prepstars.com, Mullins Sports, Tom Tietz Sports, and a host of others, all eager to report on the play of the top teams and prospects or to discover a “break out” player that might come into his own during the event. The evaluation reports make their way onto the desks of the best college programs in America to help in the recruiting process.

The event involves close to 2000 players & coaches who bring approximately 3000 fans and family members along for the ride! In addition, our Friday night match ups feature the top teams in the tournament playing to a packed house at Haskell University, 2500 strong most of which are just plain ol’ basketball fans!
